I have been the Skating Director at Suburban Ice East Lansing for 4 years and oversee our Freestyle Program, Learn to Skate program and our Spring Ice Show. I have been coaching on behalf of the Lansing Skating Club for nearly 11 years and have taken skaters through Senior Moves In the Field and Senior Freestyle Tests. I work with skaters of all levels and abilities on Moves, Freestyle and Choreography, having coached regional level competitive skaters from Juvenile through Seniors levels. Additionally, I served 2 terms on the Board of Governors as our Professional Representative, and coached the Capitol Area High School Skating Team for 3 seasons.

For 11 years, I have coached dedicated, competitive skaters of all levels and abilities at Suburban Ice East Lansing and with the Lansing Skating Club. My students have achieved their senior moves in the field and freestyle tests, medaled at regional championships, and progressed from learn to skate through triple jumps. I began coaching in 2004 and have been an active PSA member since 2007. Additionally, I have served as the Professional Representative on the LSC Board and, for three seasons, coached the Capitol Area High School Skating Team. As a skater, I am a U.S. Figure Skating double gold medalist in moves in the field and freestyle, and also hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Michigan State University.

I began coaching Learn To Skate as well as teaching private lessons in 2010. I have coached skaters of all ages from beginner to regional competitors. I served on the Lansing Skating Club board for as Vice President for 1 year, the Membership Chair for 2 years, and also served on the SafeSport Committee. . Additionally, I served as the chair for Lansing Skating Club’s Skate The Capitol Competition for 3 years. I skated on MSU’s Figure Skating Team and was the Pre-Juvenile National Champion at Intercollegiate Nationals in 2009. I was a finalist in Team USA’s Next Olympic Hopeful Scouting Camp and Program in 2017. I hold two bachelors degrees from Michigan State University, one in Spanish and one in International Studies. I also recently completed my Masters Certificate in Business Leadership and Strategic Management from Michigan State University. I am proficient in Spanish. I am currently pursuing my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification. I am still skating myself and enjoy passing on my love of the sport to my skaters.

Alex Gamelin

I competed in ice dance for South Korea at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games and the 2017 and 2018 World Championships and I am the 2017 and 2018 South Korean National Ice Dance Champion. Throughout my competitive career, I have trained under 1994 and 1998 Olympic Champion Evgeny Platov, and most recently, the coaching team lead by world-renowned ice dance coach and choreographer Igor Shpilband. Over my ten years of coaching, I have worked with students from their very first steps in the Learn to Skate program all the way up to world ranked international competitors. I specialize primarily in coaching ice dance and skating skills, including edge work and power stroking. I am also currently studying human biology at Michigan State University.

I have coached skaters of all levels and abilities since 1997, taking skaters through Senior Moves in the Field and Freestyle tests. I work with skaters of all ages, and am equally proud of my Regional, Showcase, and Adult National Champions and medalists. I continue to skate and am a Team USA Theater on Ice International medalist, eight time Adult National Dance Champion, and National Showcase Adult Parade Champion. I hold two Masters degrees from the University of Massachusetts.

Elizabeth Hammill

I am currently enrolled at Husson University in Maine and studying to be a physical therapist. I have over 10 years of competitive skating experience, with several years as an IJS juvenile, intermediate, and novice competitor. I am also a US Figure Skating Gold Medalist in both Freestyle and Moves in the Field. I have 3 year’s experience with Learn-To-Skate and group classes and have started teaching private lessons this year. I am available during the summers. I love working with kids and can help your skater with a skill they may be struggling with in Learn to Skate, or for more extensive coaching.

Since 1991, I have coached all levels from beginner to elite in testing and competition, and have produced Regional, Sectional, National and International Champions and medalists. I am PSA Master Rated in Freestyle and Moves in the Field. Currently, I serve on the USFS Board of Directors, the PSA Board of Directors, and am the Professional Rep to the Lansing Skating Club Board of Governors. I grew up in Lansing and skated for the Lansing Skating Club, passing my Senior Figures, Freestyle, and Dance.

Hannah Miller

I have been involved in figure skating since I was five years old. I am a nine-time national competitor and I competed internationally on behalf of Team USA for five years. I am 2011 U.S. Novice Ladies Champion, 2012 U.S. Junior Ladies Bronze medalist, 2012 Junior Grand Prix Final Silver medalist, and seven-time international medalist. Since 2016, I have coached skaters of all levels. I have been involved with Learn-To-Skate, taught stroking/edge lessons, choreographed programs, and coached private lessons for a total of four years. I am dedicated to teaching figure skaters how to love the sport and excel in pursuit of their goals.

I have been coaching since 1988 and have worked with skaters from beginner through the elite level, taking skaters from regionals through nationals and international competitions. As a skater myself, I have passed senior figures, senior freestyle, pre-gold dances, and have competed nationally and internationally.

I am currently an MSU student majoring in Kinesiology and pursuing my own skating career by representing MSU on the intercollegiate figure skating team. I have 4 years experience teaching group and Learn-to-Skate classes and 3 years experience teaching private lessons. My coaching is focused on the Learn-to-Skate, recreational and early freestyle skaters.
